Build your confidence. Strengthen process. Elevate your practice.

Hosted virtually via Zoom on March 16, 18, 20, 24, 26, 2026 from 12:00pm - 4:00pm EST by Dr. Kristin Lennan, Nicky Renault and Lara Hof.

The long-standing Hof & Associates' Student Conduct Institute curriculum, hosted previously in partnership with CACUSS, has been updated to this refreshed institute to offer an updated approach to building key skills in student conduct work. The institute is designed for professionals looking to understand the foundational components of student conduct administration and to deepen their practice. Participants will strengthen their ability to approach student conduct with clarity and confidence - sharpening your fact-finding and decision-making skills while exploring the principles and practices that guide fair, effective processes in post-secondary settings.

Ideal for professionals who:

  • Are new to student conduct and want a clear, practical foundation
  • Are transitioning into conduct responsibilities from adjacent roles (case management, residence life, student support, etc.)
  • Are responsible for conduct decisions and want a principled, defensible framework to guide their work

Here’s why it works

This institute is grounded in real-world student conduct practice and designed for today’s post-secondary environments. It builds clarity and confidence by strengthening fact-finding, decision-making, and outcomes through a principled, flexible, grounded human centered approach. Participants leave better equipped to navigate both formal processes and early resolution pathways with fairness and sound professional judgment.

Here’s what’s included

Foundations of Student Conduct Programs
Explore the history, guiding literature, core principles, and the evolving purpose of student conduct administration in Canadian post-secondary education.

Resolution Pathways
Explore early and informal resolution options, alongside a deeper dive into formal Code processes, with a focus on reaching agreement and accountability and learning-centered outcomes.

Fact-Finding & Decision-Making
Strengthen your ability to gather, assess, and weigh information to support fair, consistent, and defensible decisions.

Community of Practice
Engage in shared problem-solving and peer consultation to sustain learning beyond the institute.

What past participants said:

"I signed up for this course excited to learn a few things about processes and how they should be done, the course taught me so much more."

"This institute is a must for all university conduct professions. You will walk away with an enhanced understanding of student conduct in a Canadian context - a key lens for Canadian conduct professionals who often have to rely on American materials as reference."

Space will be limited to 30 participants.

The Student Conduct Institute is available year-round by request to groups and teams. Tailored versions are available for appeal boards, decision-makers, and support or advocacy roles. Contact info@hofandassociates.com for more information.
